Our Place
Cashmere New Life Church was planted by a group of people who were involved in Christchurch City New Life. In 1990 they purchased 30 Colombo Street and the group put down roots and the community grew. In 2018 the community leased a larger building down the road while we worked out how we could make our site at 30 Colombo function more effectively for us and the wider community. As part of that process, the community discerned that it was time for us to become an independent church.
30 Colombo Street in the early 90’s
We officially became The River Ōpāwaho in October 2022. We currently meet at Beckenham School Hall as we redevelop our whenua at 30 Colombo Street.
Redevelopment Project
The redeveloped site to be complete by the end of 2026
We are in the process of redeveloping our whenua at 30 colombo street. Our dream is to create a space which gathers the community, equips people and empowers people to extend the good news of the kingdom into our neighbourhoods. The redevelopment is due to be completed by the end of 2026.
